YMK the female artista found her passion for writing at the age of 9. Born in Panama City, FL she grew up young and full of curiousity for the arts as a military brat. Having to experience constant change and being the oldest of two siblings allowed her to gain many life perspectives. Often thought of as the nerdy, quiet, shy girl she found herself alone and used her creativity as a means to cope with being different from the norm. Starting out writing poetry, she flourished and took to artists such as Missy Elliott, Eve,Lauryn Hill, Da Brat, Ludacris, Tupac, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Busta Rhymes, Bow Wow, Mary J. Blige, Brandy,Mya, Monica, Aaliyah, Janet Jackson, Michael Jackson, TLC, Destiny's Child, SWV and soon began to venture further into the world of hip hop. After graduating high school in Colorado she ventured back down south to attend Southern University and continue her journey with music. Having participated in many talent shows, performing in local shows she continues to work on her craft. Admired for her lyrical content and witty animated rap cadences she flows effortlessly through a song. Demanding attention when she performs by capturing her audience with authentic raw and real material that not only motivates but inspires much like the early days of hiphop. She is a hip hop songtress writing her soulful hooks and balancing it out with lyricism that can rival any male artist of today. YMK continues to produce new material having found her soul inspiration. She aims to leave a mark on the hip hop world that will spark the next great mind and change the status quo of what the female hip hop artist is for years to come. With fresh ideas and divine direction to make resonating, powerful, inspirational music she will truly become a force to be reckoned with as female emcees begin to rise righteously in hiphop culture. She will definitely be a voice that demands respects as well as intriguing to listen to.
